Whether or not a database is a record is the subject of a court case here in Lincoln, Nebraska:
Friedman had asked for a complete copy or duplicate of all database schemas, tables in the databases, indexes, triggers, constraints, sequences, views or user defined data or data types in the database.
Steel responded with a letter saying that there were "no records responsive" to his requests.
Friedman, who isn't a lawyer, sued, which led to trial.
