You better be able to explain why, with the technology being what it is, it
can't happen nearly instantly.
I think in the current state of technology multiple days would NOT be seen
as 'acceptable'. IT might be required to institute a technological means
to implement a hold, but if the hold is communicated to all impacted
parties, THEY can ensure that they take no actions on their personal mail
stores.
