I'm wondering if the Clinton controversy has opened the eyes of those who supposedly "protect" U.S. government communications. Several other past Federal Agency heads admit to using personal email accounts to do agency business. According to Colin Powell, not only did he use a personal account, he simply deleted personal account emails after a short period of time because he no longer referenced them. Both he and Hilary Clinton have stated that they relied on those they corresponded with, who used government email addresses, to keep the emails according to federal guidelines at the time. It appears there is not only no responsible central email monitor in the State Dept. but also in the entire Federal government.

Regarding this article, not only has the Bush scandal not been resurrected but I also have not heard any re-mention of the "original" email scandal - the Iran Contra affair under Reagan. You would think that, after all this time, the U.S. federal government would pay more attention to the recordkeeping practices of government agencies and the role of email in those practices.
