Depends on the content. If folks only enter their name, possibly a company name, possibly what office they are visiting, date/time in, and date/time out, there would not be any confidential data as far as I can tell.

May I ask where the visitor register is kept? Is it at reception so that people can sign in when they arrive? If so then anyone could potentially see whom has signed in, which would conflict with being confidential.

Exactly my point - we have many through-out the organization - at every main entrance. Right now we have them classified as confidential. Guess I better check to see the reasoning behind the classification in the first place.

We are going through IS0 27001 which uses a slightly different definition of confidential. So it makes me ask: if they are confidential, who are we trying to keep this information confidential from? (Each other or the outside world.) They are clearly sitting out available to anyone to walk up and look at.

To me, they shouldn't be considered confidential - I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions as to why they would be confidential.

Thank you,
Jeanne Callen
