As a legal storm brews in the fight to keep Sweet Briar College from
closing, Amherst County Attorney Ellen Bowyer seeks a court order to
restrain the school from destroying documents.
Bowyer filed a motion for a temporary injunction Tuesday in Amherst County
Circuit Court, a day after she initiated a lawsuit on behalf of the
commonwealth against Sweet Briar Institute, President James F. Jones Jr.
and board chairman Paul G. Rice to halt what she calls an “unlawful”
closure decision.
