Section 411 here explains the requirements for CA, I'm sure your (and other
States) have similar guidance http://www.bpelsg.ca.gov/laws/boardrules.pdf

There is another thing to consider- if your drawings are 'engineered' by
out-of-state firms, or your engineers do work for other states, you have to
look for their requirements...and if you work on highways, pipelines or
other interstate facilities, they must meet ALL requirements.

Last oddball caveat I remember, "Bridges and Appurtenances" and "Buildings
with Public Access" also have special requirements for engineer's seals...
so you may need to look into that.

Also, some states accept an "electronic image" of an engineers seal, others
do not, so in those cases, a drawing must be plotted, the plot sealed and
signed, then the drawing has to be imaged to have an electronic "copy" that
reflects the seal.

That's all I've got...

Larry
