Snip from Jesse Wilkins: <snipped>
So, I guess I have to ask this (always trying to stay out of this
discussion, but . . .), what do you think Records Management is?</snip>
If you polled self-identified records managers, or ARMA members, or
whatever, I would bet airfare to DC for ARMA15 that the number that claim
responsibility for even the majority of the things I listed is in the low
single-digit percentage range. I have yet to meet a RM person involved with
print composition & printstream management - not saying they don't exist,
but they are rare critters. Ditto GIS, ditto BI, ditto doc control. And
even my list wasn't exhaustive - I could have added e.g. master data
management, enterprise search, and many others.
Some may do some of them, a few may do many of them - but even if their
title includes "records manager" they are really doing IG rather than the
narrow subset that falls under RM.

Jesse Wilkins, CIP, CRM, IGP
