Ditto...Started the same way when "pumping gass" meant checking under the hood, wiping windows, checking tire pressure, etc. in addition to being a "grease monkey" and servicing cars.

Ahhh...Those were the days.

Pumping gas.  Very busy gas station (not self-service at that time).  Looking back I think that was an impetus for my desire to learn about process improvement and how good customer service meant more profits.
