There is no "official" review time period for retention schedules. The two standards that govern this function each have different, but similar, requirements.

ISO TR15489-2

Monitoring should take place regularly at intervals agreed and set down in the organization's records management policy.

Retention Management for Records and Information

ANSI/ARMA 8-2005 * Standard for Records and Information Management

The records manager shall meet periodically with the appropriate personnel and provide ongoing training to ensure compliance with the program.

Close coordination with department information coordinators is necessary to implement and operate the program, to update retention schedules, and to ensure that all records created, received, or used by the department are captured and scheduled.

Ginny Jones

(Virginia A. Jones, CRM, FAI)

Records Manager

Information Technology Division

Newport News Dept. of Public Utilities

Newport News, VA
