Hello Records Managers!

With apologies for the kind of late notice-- NISO is drafting a standard on
"Information and documentation — Records management in enterprise
architecture", which purports to "provides a common reference for Records
Managers (or Information Managers in general) and Enterprise Architects
about requirements for records processes and systems." Michele Pacifico,
who serves as SAA's representative to NISO, has asked for comment on this
document, in preparation for voting on passing it out of the technical
committee (with or without revisions).

The document is (or should be) available for review at
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__forums.archivists.org_read_attachment_201368_2-2D2_&d=DwIFaQ&c=pZJPUDQ3SB9JplYbifm4nt2lEVG5pWx2KikqINpWlZM&r=b5NZPQUb9_r2rQ3Zd74ATT3aSs9yKyRnJLOhqJvd7fE&m=yRAWGFOCwrctf5MenwhljpYJpiTfeaUn6lAao6JQEdY&s=2A9-PEBTFpmpPvs7BgYOqBj8Xje7QcS9Bq-skYnmdmU&e=
ISO_DTR_21965-20171027_.pdf, and has been shared, per NISO copyright rules,
"for purpose of review and comment related to the preparation of the U.S.
position, provided this notice is included. All other right are reserved."
Michele must cast her vote on this by December 1 (Friday), so if you have
any thoughts on how SAA should vote on this document, or any comments or
changes, please send those comments to Michele directly (
[log in to unmask]), or to the list for one of the SC members
(probably me, since I'm sending this message ;) to consolidate and send to
her sometime on Thursday.

This looks to be an important standard to be able to point to as we work
with our institutional IT folks to get archives and records management
built into systems architecture, and if you do have time to go through it I
strongly recommend doing so and sending Michele your comments. Once again,
I apologize for the late notice on this.

Regards,
Brad Houston
City Records Officer, City of Milwaukee
Records Management Section Steering Committee Member
