Then again if you say "I Clerk" that could - equate for some people,
especially "Inside The Beltway - with a higher status job of Law Clerk (law
school graduate/new lawyer) working for a Federal Judge or Supreme Court
Justice.

For some that could lead to "potential" in social situations.

A few years ago I was a project manager on a records management contract
at the US Dept. of Justice. We had 50 people on the project managing
litigation case files. Many were commonly called "clerks". In
Washington, of course, the first thing anybody asks you is: "What do you
do", or "Where do you work?" I told my people not to introduce
themselves as "clerks", but as "information management professionals".
Here in DC, that could be especially important in social situations with
"potential". Never got any feedback on that one. I'll leave it there.
