Hi, folks - it's me again.
We are considering sending out a few jobs related to scanning from
microfilm - at this stage of the game 16mm film. My guess is that this
will grow in importance, as we have a pretty huge microfilm library. I
have found some interesting information on the internet, however, most
of it is related to vendor sites selling a conversion service, or to
libraries and other institutions providing information on how to use
their in-house film scanner. As I am trying to develop specifications to
vend this out, I was wondering if any of you might be willing to share
pointers, specifications, or standards related to this process. One
question that immediately pops into my head: Is it safe/preferable to
scan from silver original film, or should we have the vendors scan from
diazo duplicates?
I look forward to hearing your collective wisdom!
