With more employees than ever using mobile devices to handle media-rich
content, backup and deduplication techniques need to be truly global to
avoid taxing networks and creating bottlenecks. But too many companies are
still relying on backup and deduplication strategies that target users,
servers or storage locations, and that can have a negative impact on
network performance.
Imagine a global company with 1,000 sales people located in four regions,
with each salesperson receiving a media-rich presentation from their
marketing department. In the typical backup and deduplication scenario,
1,000 copies of the identical presentation would be backed up and made
available to each salesperson.
