Gary brought up a great point.  Paper takes up more space once it has been
used allot, types of paper and the file folders also take up space.  So best
guesstimate would be between 2500-3000.  I used to just take a sample couple
of folders as well (like Gary suggested) and count the paper in them.  You
will get a representative sample and multiply that by the number of average
folders in the boxes or on a standard shelf.  Interesting question!
