You missed one thing Bill. People's personalities come shining through
in posts; and the RM people are by far the most knowledgeable, enjoyable
and hilarious group I've come across in a while. (NB: Except perhaps
archivists; nobody parties like archivists!)

Yes, the volume of emails is a tad overwhelming, but I'm a student and I
work full time, and it's worth the 20 minutes it takes a day to read it.
These posting have taught me more then I can easily quantify; I've been
intellectually stimulated, and laughed out loud in the office.

Where else can you get that?!

Greetings, and I'll be brief (not one of my strongest traits)

Please see my comment below.......

Kerry Miller wrote: I'm right there with you! I'm deleting up to 100
e-mails per day! I'm a
student as well, so I should probably stick it out until the end of the
course, but I'm looking forward to finding out how to escape too. Good
luck!

But first Terry had written: Help! I joined this list thinking it was a
place to get published articles
on records management (I'm a student.) I had no idea that I'd be
getting
TONS of email that I'm not interested in.

How do I unjoin and get rid of the emails flooding my inbox??? Can
someone
please tell me how and where to do this???

Thank you,
Terri

Comment: Kerry and Terry, and others who feel the same, if you are a
"student", and if you signed up looking for a strong learning tool to
know more, and better understand the management of records and
information, leaving the listserv would defeat your purpose.

The time required to read the Subject line, open and quickly peruse the
e-mail, pales in comparison to many, maybe most other tools for RIM
research. The RM Listserv membership, whether vocal or not, whether seen
or not, is comprised of professionals who can, and do provide a
measureless wealth of knowledge and experience. If you are a student
(and actually we all are, or should be) don't go away. Find a way to
manage the incoming mail. In the long run, you will be glad you did.

With regard and respect for the demands that we all must meet,

Bill
