Sure - so do I. However, if you don't have a curator or the like handy, you
may become one yourself. The world fills itself with learning opportunities!
And yes, your local historical society may be the best start.

I guess in the larger scheme, I would not schedule a portrait or a chair,
but I would schedule the documentation of the purchase or the requisition
for the work or the original certificate of authenticity should there be
one.
