Excellent advice Peter. Another thing for him to consider is there
might be the same or similar books at a public library that can be
referenced for free; save a few dollars.

Best regards, Steve

1. exactly what search engine for example or what are some of the
engines among the many that are used with good results ?... in
compiling RAIN Records and Archives in the News from the dailies
      and from the other publishers.

let me suggest that you explore the following website for information
about
various search engines
http://searchenginewatch.com/

or this one

http://www.searchengineshowdown.com/

   2. How actually is that search engine used for good hits?... for
RAIN Records and Archives in the News from the dailies
      and from the other publishers

Consider reviewing this website
http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/TeachingLib/Guides/Internet/FindInfo.html#Outline

of visit your local bookstore in Boston. I'm sure they have plenty of
books
on how to use search engines. A good one to look for is Tara
Calenshain's
Search Engine Garage. Each search engine uses different algorithms to
build their
databases. so you just need to experiment with them. What you are
searching for
may be greatly different from what someone else is searching for.
