Vacancy Announcement

Position Title: Archives/Records IT Specialist

Length of Assignment: Now through April 30, 2005 with 1 year optional renewal

Duties/Responsibilities:
*       Participate in evaluation, selection, and implementation of an Electronic Records Management System. Includes coordination and support for evaluation process as well as providing technical and professional expertise in evaluation, testing, conversion, and implementation tasks.
*       Provide ad hoc web support for Archives & Records Web pages.
*       Provide technical support for Archives and Records systems including updating technical/user documentation, identifying new requirements and writing enhancement specifications, developing test scripts for systems, providing training, etc.  The IMF uses Accutrac for semi-active records (box management), GenCat for Archives Description, SQL and Access databases for other smaller applications.
*       Research Archives and Records technology topics for projects as needed.
*       Liaise with records management staff on the implementation and maintenance of file plans, retention schedules, training program and other project efforts.
*       Liaise with the archivists to set up the functional requirements for an e-archives which including a researching the market to identify relevant new archives systems.
*       General duties may include:  updating budget report spreadsheets, maintaining accurate project files and assisting with tasks as assigned on system related efforts.

Qualifications:
*       Information professional with strong technical expertise including experience with information systems/databases;
*       Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
*       Familiarity with archives and electronic records management principles and systems;
*       Effective written and verbal communication skills, including for user/technical documentation.
*       Strong interpersonal skills
*       Ability to work in a multicultural environment

Technical Skills:
*       MS Office Applications - Word, Excel;
*       Experience with basic HTML required - with MS Office apps, and with FrontPage or another HTML editor;
*       MS Project and MS Access desirable.
