Dear Colleagues,
In his post to the list on Thu, 10 Feb 2005 Bill J. Roach provides the
following, in part:
> Subd. 3. Certified signature. A stamp, printed signature, or
electronically created signature has
the same force and effect as an actual signature if it creates an accurate
depiction of the licensed or certified professional's actual signature.

The caveat I see is that a digital signature would not be acceptable as it
is not and "accurate depiction" of the actual signature. <
I beg to differ with this stated position. I believe that today's digital
version of the "Wet Signature" meets the legislated criteria "as an actual
signature if it creates an accurate depiction" as required above.
Yes, like Bill, and now doubt many others I have not fallen in love with the
use of KPI (Key Private Infrastructure) and Digital Signatures where there
is no indication of the so called "Wet Signature" and the encrypted digital
signature is only an IT object indivisible to me as a non computer, or a
HUMAN (I hope). I cannot be a part of the process and I have to take the
computer or IT's guarantee that all is safe in this area.
That being said it is my personal, and maybe singular belief that the only
digital signatures that will win the day and last the test of time are the
Biometric replication of the "Wet Signature" that I as that human interface
as well as or in addition to the computer can verify, or probably more
correctly be comfortable with the digital version of the "wet signature" as
my Linus "security blanket" in this area of security and verification.
To check on my insecurity you may care to visit
http://www.cybersign.com/index.html which is only one of a number of such
products available internationally of this type of digital signature
process. This site even has a demonstration on how the signature process
works if you have the time to wait for it to download and play.
Regards, Laurie
