Steve Gilheany has a nice reference that I have used for this type of
ballparking - http://www.archivebuilders.com/whitepapers/22009.doc

Subject: Average size of electronic data?

Might anyone have useful links or sources of information for the average
file size for various electronic file types?

I'm looking for things like Word docs (or any office files), email
files,
mp3s, etc. This is just for ballparking, for example, how many
pages/files
might be in, say, 200MB of Word docs.
