Anyone who has access to today's Wall Street Journal might want to take a
gander at a commentary by Scott McNealy (CEO, Sun Microsystems) in the
editorial section. The link for those who have an on-line subscription is

mentaries

McNealy raises some of the same concerns and frustrations that many on this
listserve have in the past; lack of format standards, with software
companies constantly changing file formats, leaving previous versions
obsolete. He supports a push toward the OpenDocument Format (ODF) and makes
a pretty good case for it; an agenda has got to be in there somewhere. He's
one of the few leaders in the technology arena who I've seen advocating
standardization.

I'll admit haven't delved into ODF other than reading about it in some
on-line articles. Maybe others could enlighten us.
