BWXT Y-12, in partnership between BWX Technologies Inc. and Bechtel
National Inc., operates the Y-12 National Security
Complex for the National Nuclear Security Administration. BWXT Y-12's
goal is the safe and efficient operation of the Y-12
complex while at the same time modernizing the facilities to ensure
their long-term capability to meet national security missions.

Department - Information, Policy, Records and Document Management

Responsibilities
Supervises and directs daily activities performed by salaried personnel
assigned to the Document Management Services
Section. Ensures company policies are adhered to by staff and that work
is performed with fully trained and competent
personnel to meet requirements and needs of customers. Provides and
maintains safe working conditions. Plans,
schedules, and directs Document Management Services work activities for
administrative and technical support employees.
Monitors work schedule and makes necessary adjustments to meet customer
and operational expectations. Ensures that all
working standards are properly maintained and controlled at all times.
Matches proposed work activities with personnel
qualifications, skill mix, and experience.

Ensures that all technical aspects of document management are properly
executed according to specified procedure
requirements. Ensures that activities are performed following specified
application reference and procedural guidelines and
in a cost effective manner. Monitors various work activities to verify
operational requirements are properly applied. Provides
project leadership for records and document management activities across
the company that solve issues associated with
section work scope.

Handles all personnel matters associated with the Document Management
Services section including adhering to
requirements for creating and distributed controlled documents,
maintaining active records in a network of document
management centers, and employing effective information security.
Interviews, makes hiring recommendations, evaluates
performance, coaches, counsels, rewards and disciplines employees as
appropriate, and trains and develops staff. Handles
employee relations' issues, including employee complaints, and resolves
personnel problems. Provides leadership and
personal interaction to promote positive work environment and encourages
individual involvement.
Serves as a communication link between management and
technical/administrative support personnel including problem
identification and resolution. Continuously maintains awareness of the
operational status of assigned work activities by
maintaining a presence within the various work areas across the company.

Develops budget proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and related
documents for the section and coordinates input with
other records management service sections. Interfaces with all levels of
administrative, technical, and management along
with National Nuclear Security Administration representatives, on status
of activities, projects, and schedules.
Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in information or business management plus a minimum
of 6 years experience involving various Y-12
plant operations or extensive experience in several relevant areas of
records and document management with supervisory
and subject matter expertise. Must be knowledgeable about technical
aspects of records management and document
control requirements, Privacy Act requirements, and other information
security requirements. Must understand indexing
protocols, be proficient in computing tools and applications, and be a
self-starter with high initiative who works well with staff
and customers. Must be an effective leader and be capable of
self-assessing operations to ensure compliance. Must be
capable of supervising a network of staff in multiple locations and
maintain effective management of multiple projects and
customer priorities at the same time. Prior supervisory experience
involving records and document management activities is
highly desirable. Must have effective communication skills, both oral
and written, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and
be able to work in a team environment.
