Hello Lisa,

There are actually 3 standards in British BIP 008 series:

1) BIP 0008-1:2004 "Code of practice for legal admissibility and evidential
weight of information stored electronically"

2) BIP 0008-2:2005 "Code of practice for legal admissibility and evidential
weight of information communicated electronically"

3) BIP 0008-3:2005 "Code of practice for legal admissibility and evidential
weight of linking electronic identity to documents"

They are used as a basis for the development of ISO standards:

ISO/TR 15801:2004 "Electronic imaging - Information stored electronically -
Recommendations for trustworthiness and reliability" (based on previous
version of BIP 0008)

There also exists ISO 18509 project (current status unknown):

ISO/CD 18509-1 "Electronic archival storage - Specifications relative to the
design and operation of information processing systems in view of ensuring
the storage and integrity on recordings stored in these systems - Part 1:
Long term access strategy"

ISO/CD 18509-2 "Electronic archival storage - Specifications relative to the
design and operation of information processing systems in view of ensuring
the storage and integrity on recordings stored in these systems - Part 2:
Technical specifications"

which is based of French national standard:

NF Z 42-013 "Archivage électronique Spécifications relatives à la conception
et à l'exploitation de systèmes informatiques en vue d'assurer la
conservation et l'intégrité des documents stockés dans ces systèmes",
Décembre 2001

Regards,
Natasha
