The Ten Biggest Issues in Records Management Today

Program: What is records management's contribution to improved business performance and corporate governance? The answers will be presented in the form of the Ten Biggest Issues in Records Management Today. Find out what records managers need to know to stay on top of current trends in their field. Here are just some of the topics that will be covered in depth:
The growing role of records management in corporate governance; regulatory compliance; litigation risk reduction; and enhancing information protection.
The transition to electronic records management; bringing retention to the desktop and the messaging environment; new software solutions; and digital preservation.
The improvement of records retention and data life cycle management.
Speaker: Our speaker this year is David O. Stephens, CRM, FAI. He is Vice President for Records Management Consulting, Zasio Enterprises, Inc., Smithfield, North Carolina.

Mr. Stephens is an internationally recognized authority in the records and information management field. Since 1995, he has been vice president for records management consulting at Zasio Enterprises, Inc., a leading records management company. Mr. Stephens has over thirty years of experience in the field and has developed or improved records management programs for more than two hundred corporations and government agencies throughout the United States. He is one of the most prolific speakers and writers in the records management field today. His most recent book is Records Management: Making the Transition from Paper to Electronic, to be published by ARMA International in late 2006. He also co-authored the book Electronic Records Retention: New Strategies for Data Life Cycle Management (2003), which is the standard reference work on that subject. He has spoken to thousands of records managers throughout the United States and in some twenty countries in Europe, Asia, Latin
America, and the South Pacific. Mr. Stephens frequently writes articles for The Information Management Journal, and for many years he conducted lectures on basic and advanced records management topics at George Washington University. Mr. Stephens is a Certified Records Manager. From 1989 to 1990, he served as President and CEO of ARMA International, and was inducted into the Company of Fellows of ARMA International in 1992.
