considering the industry you're in, you should seek guidance from those who
regulate your activities prior to seeking it from a broader audience.
First find out what you HAVE TO DO, before determining what you PREFER TO DO.
You may not have the luxury of purging mailboxes in accordance with some
random chronological schedule or volume limit- you may be forced to apply
more rigid classification to the e-mail based on content, and to establish
retention periods for anything that meets the definition of a record on that
basis.
Similarly, there may be regulations that limit what other forms of
communication you can use to conduct certain types of business, so you
should look into that first.
Unfortunately in today's business climate, one size doesn't fit all anymore,
in fact one size doesn't even fit most.
