Peter:
I said "richer" with respect to the other associations that have a
refereed Journal. The Association of Canadian Archivists started it
when it had less than one hundred members, so calculate its
income. And this was not the argument supporting the choice of ARMA
as the best possible publisher of such a journal. This was only a
rebuttal to those who stated that an online refereed journal is too
expensive for ARMA .
Several strong arguments have been presented by a variety of persons
why ARMA should take responsibility for a peer reviewed journal. We
will work on a business case and will submit it to ARMA. If ARMA
will not buy it, we do have a plan B, because, as Dwight stated, the
future of the profession must be taken care of, and quite a few of us
are ready to work for it. The young people cannot and should not wait
much longer.
