Like many of you, I was also saddened to learn of Alan's passing.  I was
also fortunate to have worked with him, learned from him, and enjoyed
his laughter and sense of humor.  Many of us are at that time in our
lives when those we have worked with through the years, those colleagues
who we have admired for their passion and knowledge, those friends who
we are used to seeing once a year at conference are no longer with us.  
 
Alan had a passion for learning and education.  He was always on the
leading edge of our field.  Sure, we could nominate him for a posthumous
award, but mostly it would serve to make us feel better.  I think a
better option would be to honor him through a research project that
could be funded through the ARMA International Education Foundation.
(AIEF).  This would keep his memory alive in a way that most identified
him - RIM Education.  There is already a memorial page set up for Alan
at http://www.armaedfoundation.org/andolsen.html  I would urge people to
donate to this fund, and maybe someone from the AIEF could tell us in
more detail what we need to do to have a project funded in his name.
