I think my original post was too wordy. So I will simplify: What are the
RIM core competencies, or standard things that a records manager does,
that would make RIM a valuable part of a team that is developing an
enterprise-wide data map?
Thanks,
Gary

For the purpose of illustrating how RIM can contribute to a data map
development project, I would like to put together a simple two-column
graphic that has on one side the tasks involved in developing a data map
and on the other side the complimentary tasks/functions/competencies that
records managers do during their normal course of business (probably most
during developing a records retention schedule, but not exclusively). Some
can be specific to actual RIM tasks, some can be more general (ex: work
with all depts in an enterprise).
Being a professional records manager, I like to think I could do this on
my own. But I thought it would be much more fun to have you do it for me.
:-) So, if you wish to contribute, please list any number of data map
tasks and their corresponding RIM standard competency. And sorry, you do
not win a prize for playing at home. But I will post the completed product
back to the List.
SAMPLE:
Data Map - Records Managers
Identify Data repositories - Inventory records and information of
any type
