We don't ask for Division approval. We send a notice of intent to destroy (based on current approved retention schedule) and give the managers 15 days to give valid reasons why any or all of their boxes should not be destroyed. The City Attorney gave "blanket" approval for authorized destruction when he signed off on the retention schedule. The schedule was also reviewed and approved by the state agency that has regulatory authority over our records.
