Revelations that files related to the operations of Switzerland’s top-secret Project-26 ‘stay-behind’ army are missing have caused consternation and concern among historians and politicians. The now defunct P-26 army was part of a Europe-wide Cold War network of anti-communist paramilitary groups which operated outside of Swiss government control, embedded deep within the secret military services.
