Keene senior staff is opposing a bill in Concord that would require
agencies to provide electronic public records for free via email and let
citizens choose the format they receive them in.

Senate Bill 395 would amend New Hampshire’s Right to Know law, RSA 91-A, by
stipulating that if electronic records are in a “readily available format,”
someone requesting them can’t be charged for receiving them via email.

The bill also specifies that, if feasible, electronic records must be
provided to citizens in the format they request. That could include an
Excel spreadsheet attached to an email, a text document on a USB drive, or
a PDF burned to a CD.
