But you do not live in a Starlin's USSR, just make a note in your diary
to avoid using low cost, ineffective vendors and support a vendor who
actually wants your business enough to do it right. You can do it

Putting aside Gerald's attempt (I hope) at humor, my point was that
either the author or IM missed the boat on the complete issue of IM
losing backup tapes.  I agree that the issue of identity theft is a big
one and IM suggested a solution (customers should use encryption).  What
I found disturbing was the complete lack of reference to the issue of
losing contingency backups and not addressing the issue. A 99.99%
success rate by a storage vendor is going to mean beans to a mid-size
company that loses its contingency backup, is not told it is missing,
and then suffers a catostrophic event. I still think it show a lack of
concern - whether by IM or the author I don't know.
