31.8.2005 Russian legislation news. New Rules governing interaction between communication operators and law enforcement agencies are approved
            The Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No 538 of 27 August 2005 approves the Rules that determine the interaction procedures between communication operators and government law enforcement agencies. The Rules require communication service providers to keep client and transactional data for 3 years, and to provide 24x7 remote access to the databases for the law enforcement agencies. The databases should contain names, locations and passport data of the citizens; for companies - names, locations and signed and stamped lists of corporate users (including names, locations and passport data of the employees). They should also contain the data about connections, traffic and payments.
