My kick at the can on the taxonomy issue.
In IM/IT a taxonomy is used to organize information into a set of preferred terms, all connected by a hierarchy of classes or groups in successive subordination. It is frequently used in web navigation systems. Users can easily and quickly understand Web Sites that use hierarchical organization models. A website taxonomy provides the essential structure required to manage website content with help from technology. A taxonomy allows information portal managers to establish categories of information and standardized terminology.
In knowledge management a taxonomy is described as an outcome from knowledge mapping and structuring processes . It is a hierarchical classification which helps users understand how explicit knowledge can be grouped and categorised.
