The Construction Standards Institute has OmniClass which is supposed to
be a classification scheme for the construction industry. It can be used
in conjunction with Master Format and UniFormat, their construction
specifications tool.

The website is http://www.csinet.org/s_csi/sec.asp?CID=1369&DID=11262

I have looked at this but it is focused more toward industrial
construction and very large commercial buildings. It is very detailed,
although you can choose to use only the first and second level of
classifications.
