Steve, unless the intent of a backup system is to maintain a records
vault of some sort, with the expectation that records will be
retrievable from such a system (generally a really bad idea), I tend to
leave system recovery backup issues to IT. If, instead, the intent is to
create an "electronic archives", you should be very concerned. In the
latter case, I would add long term preservation, classification,
access/discovery and retention.
