You misunderstood. I was referring to the term used to refer to a
function. After having said that the verb "to archive" does not
exist in archival science, I indicated that what some define as "to
archive" is instead either to maintain (to keep), to store or to
preserve. The activities that you describe as archiving are in fact
preservation activities and by listing them with the proper terms you
in fact confirmed that they are not "archiving".
