I work for a natural gas pipeline company. The largest volume of records 
created by field employees involves job files. These files usually relate to the 
construction or removal of pipe. I’ve seen these files range in length from 50 
to 500+ pages depending on the scope of the project. These records are 
paper based and stored in multiple district offices throughout the system. We 
are looking at the possibility of making the job files available electronically 
(scanning). I’m looking for input on what other pipeline companies are doing to 
manage these types of records. If you don’t work for a pipeline company and 
have successfully implemented an imaging project that made a large volume of 
records available to a dispersed workforce, I would love your input, too.
