I am back on the listserv after a several month hiatus.  My name is Michelle Lamm, I've been in Records Management since the dark ages, and am the Records Manager  with the Idaho Transportation Department. I received a deceptively simple request from ETS for a generic list of 'document types'. I blithely said, "No problem, I'm sure I can have one for you in no time!" And so began what has now become a two day 'scavenger hunt' for lack of a better term. I don't know if I am using the wrong search terms, I've used many variations - some of which cannot be printed here. I am looking for a relatively short, generic listing of common document types, i.e. Correspondence, Contracts, Minutes, etc. I keep coming up with metadata articles, articles on file extensions. Would anyone have such a thing, or be able to point me in the correct direction?
