Good Morning Fellow Listservers,

I'm researching this topic with our Corporate RIM staff also, but
thought I would peruse the collective wisdom of the List. My employer
is a global manufacturer of aircraft assemblies and subassemblies (see
www.spiritaero.com).

We have at least a couple of records series created by our previous
owner that have not been used since divestiture in 2005 and do not apply
to the new business. Research shows that no records have been stored
using these codes, and no listings of current holdings in business units
contain these records. No legacy holdings at our off-site storage
provider exist prior to 2005, as those remained with the previous owner.
We started with zero off-site storage in 2005.

We're looking at deleting those series and re-using the records series
code numbers. If anyone knows of any free references on the topic (our
budget is zero), pros, cons, or other wisdom to share, I would be
grateful.
