an entry level person wouldn't search on "Certified Records Manager" they
should instead search using terms such as "information management analyst"
or something else that is an entry level type position. the term "records
manager" in the past was assigned to individuals who when one closely
examined their responsibilities were really no more than a file room
supervisor or clerk. what ever terms they use to search on they will need to
closely read the job descriptions for the nuances such as "must be able to
lift 35-40 pounds". they also need to ask questions of the organization that
will clarify what the organization is seeking

the best thing that you could do for students is to review the ARMA Job
competencies document as well as the ARMA Job Descriptions both documents
linked together. As such it shows the students what they need to climb
higher up the RM chain
