The Friends of California Archives and the California State Archives
will be offering a one-day Basic Records Management Workshop on
Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The workshop will be
held at the Secretary of State's Office, Multipurpose Room, 1500 11th
Street, Sacramento, CA 95814.
This workshop is for people who have had no previous training in
managing current records. You'll get practical advice, sample forms and
policies, and learn basic practices for creating, managing, retrieving,
disposing of, and protecting records.
During the day you will:
* Learn basic records management concepts
* Learn about legal obligations for records-keeping
* Receive records management forms
* Receive definitions for key records management terms
* Develop a sample records retention schedule
* Learn about electronic records management
* Receive handouts for where to find additional information
The cost of the workshop is $50.00 per person payable by cash or check;
make check payable to "Friends of California Archives".
