IIMC Grants Professional Development Pre-approval for NAGARA-CoSA Joint
Annual Meeting and Workshops

Advanced Electronic Records Workshop

Wednesday, July 13, 2011, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm 

Description: Although the same principles of records management apply to
electronic records and systems, there continue to be special
considerations for creating and managing electronic records.  Designed
for individuals with some prior background in electronic recordkeeping,
this workshop expands on basic electronic records management knowledge.
This workshop is a condensed presentation of the two-day, Advanced
Electronic Records Management course offered by the National Archives
and Records Administration.  Content has been adapted, where
appropriate, for state and local government audiences.  The workshop is
an investigation of issues, people, and tools related to electronic
records management.  It also looks at emerging technologies and the
implications for records management.

An Introduction to Digital Curation for Public Records Professionals

Saturday, July 16, 2011, 8:30 - 4:30 pm 

Description: This workshop will address fundamental issues, concepts and
considerations of digital curation.  The intended audience is those who
are responsible for public records.  Presenters will draw from materials
developed for the DigCCurr series (digital curation curriculum) and will
discuss lessons and perspectives from a project called Educating Steards
of Public Information in the 21st Century.  This workshop will address:
the nature of digital materials; preservation considerations; strategies
for engaging with producers of content,; access considerations, and
models for assessing various activities.

You can register for the July 13-16 Annual Meeting through the NAGARA
website (www.nagara.org <http://www.nagara.org/> ), where you will also
find the pre-conference program and the Sheraton registration form.  If
you would like a copy of the pre-conference program or have questions
about the Annual Meeting, please contact the NAGARA Central Office by
return email or telephone (518-694-8472).  If you'd like to register
now, but can't pay at the moment, you can register as a "receivable" and
can even print out your own invoice.  Any registration, whether payment
accompanies it or not, will be eligible for the Early Bird if it is
received by June 26.

 

The Annual Meeting hotel room block closes on Monday, June 20.  No
deposit is required, and if you cancel before 6 pm on Monday, July 11th,
there will be no forfeit amount.  

 

If you are registering for a room outside of the NAGARA/CoSA block
(Tuesday-Saturday), you cannot make your complete reservation through
the website.  It would be best to call the Sheraton reservation number
(800-447-9825) and ask for the NAGARA Annual Meeting rate.  The Annual
Meeting rate is only available for Tuesday - Saturday and rates for
other nights could vary.
