If you are referring to software or code that your company develops (vs. license)-- that can be put into "software escrow" --essentially, a copy of the code at a certain point of time, put into escrow with a third-party.

Subject: Software as a Record?

Dear List,

Just wondering whether anyone has had any experience that they'd like to share around managing software as records...or have even heard of such a thing. I'm referring to either raw source code or the compiled/deployed executable.

Do you feel RIM practitioners ought to give any thought to retention and disposition guidelines of these electronic assets, or does this fall squarely within the boundaries of IT?
