Socialbot fools Facebook defenses, harvesting personal info from thousands
of users -- Government Computer News
Researchers at the University of British Columbia were able to infiltrate
Facebook with a herd of automated “socialbots” that went largely undetected
by the network’s defenses for eight weeks, friending and harvesting
personal information from thousands of users.
“We believe that large-scale infiltration in [online social networks] is
only one of many future cyber threats, and defending against such threats
is the first step towards maintaining a safer social Web for millions of
active Web users,” they wrote in a
