I've been in touch with Xerox customer service both via email and phone,
and had no luck. The rep told me that the operators (and, not, or)
don't work in the basic search, even though I pointed out to him that
the "search tips" available on the screen say that the operators are
available in the basic search. He is "researching" the issue, although
I have very little faith in that.
I'll see about moving up as far as I can go (or have time to do). In
the meantime, I've trained everyone to use the advanced search where
And, Not, and Or are part of the dropdown selections for search terms.

I researched this product years ago and decided not to go with due to
its lack of records functionality.
It's my understanding that this software is Xerox's version of
Sharepoint...only not as advanced. You've not provided much information
on what your problem is. If its software based, then Xerox should be
able to assist you with this. Elevate your issues as far up the chain
of command that you need to. If you don't get an answer at one level,
then keep going girl.
It's been my experience that its best to get help from the top down.
You are an existing customer, and if they want to keep your business,
and they do, then talk to top management. Xerox is now more customer
friendly than they were 20 years ago.

I've just graduated with an MLIS, and am now working as a
records/information manager for a mid-size property management firm.
I've taken classes in online search techniques, studies many different
search engine/database search operators, and am still having issues with
DocuShare search operators not working - if anyone has suggestions or
uses DocuShare, I'd appreciate you contacting me...I would be happy to
compile suggestions and post them on the list. I've gotten very little
assistance from the Xerox DocuShare User Group site, and am supposed to
be the search expert for my company - which will be very embarrassing if
I can't find out what I'm doing wrong.
If I've posted this to the wrong place, please let me know so I don't do
so again. If there is a specific etiquette to posting that I am
violating, please let me know - I posted previously on this issue and
got no responses (it could be that noone uses DocuShare that is on this
list).
