Fred commented, "It always comes back to this, doesn't it: how to convince Executive Management, AND the corporate entity as a whole, that records management applies beyond the sheets of paper in a box?"

Sometimes I think that argument has been clearly made and received leading to the question - How do you, without sounding negative, convince a frog he's boiling when he's having a good time?

Because it applies to more than just paper in a box, records management can be seen as a killjoy regulating or limiting the use of collaborative tools and options that are perceived as advantageous, innovative or forward thinking. It's unfortunate because lowering your risk profile and improving productivity is just as beneficial to an organization as what new technology and social media have to offer as all three vie to address the growing flurry of information.

On the plus side, as we continue to compete with sexier platforms and tools for organizational market share, communication skills across the profession are sure to see an uptick ;)
