Hi all,

Just realized I've been on this list for like three months and have
not yet posted an Intro - Yikes!

I'm a student at Columbia University's Information and Digital
Resource Management MS program - nearly finishing my degree. My class
this semester is records management, and it was suggested by my
teacher, Fred Grevin, that I join this list.

I am glad I did. Besides the very prolific amounts of email, I have
learned a lot! I have taken classes in social media and the legal
aspects of E-discovery and retention, and through this list I have
seen how it applies to the real world, and how they are all parts of
the same puzzle, not independent entities as I thought they were.

So mainly this is a thank you for all the wisdom and information I've
read over the past few months, and I fully intend to stay subscribed.

I however am also a career changer - so far I have a string of admin
jobs that have always included database and information management
(Manuals for either department procedure, or individual procedures,
database and data management for NYU Alumni contacts or my research
Center's contacts, etc.). I want to break out of admin and go for a
purely info management/Analyst job since you can't fully perform those
duties if you also have to type, make photocopies and run events.

Any and all advice would be welcome. And even if yall cannot come up
with anything - thanks again for all the helpful information on this
board - there is no real substitute for experience and yours has
enlightened me much about how all these classes can come together in
the real world.

Many thanks,
Tam
