The University of Texas Health Science Center had to close their hospital in Fort Worth, TX although they continued to maintain clinics and the medical school. Steve Woodall is the Director of Health Information Management and quite helpful.

Subject: Checklist for Hospital Closing

Hello Everyone!

A colleague of mine (in another state), who is not on the listserv, has asked me to post a question for him.

They have a university owned hospital that will be closing soon. He is looking for a checklist or advice on managing records of a closing hospital? His university is responsible for all of the records and assets of the hospital that is closing. Does anyone know of any checklist? I did suggest checking the AHIMA web site and also with the Board of Medical Examiners in his state. Any suggestions would be most appreciated and I will be happy to pass them on to him.

Thank you!

Susan
