Check your local bar association's website for opinions that may discuss the handling of law firm records. The Statue of Limitations on Attorney Malpractice is also a good indicator of how long to keep attorney work product. Just my thoughts...

Subject: File Retention for Attorney Chron and Timesheets

Hi Everyone,

I work for a law firm in the Boston, MA area and I am researching to find out if there are any file retention rules for retaining attorney chron and timesheet files. Over the years it has just been common practice to keep the attorney's chron files and timesheets and send them to off site storage periodically. We are now trying to reduce the volume of our storage inventory and are looking to see if there are any retention rule in regards to these types of documents.

If anyone knows if there are any retention guidelines for attorney chron and timesheets, it would be most appreciated.

Thank you,
Irene Eklund
